The upshot of this: Ms Ean Yeo, president of non-governmental group Women Empowered for Work and Mothering, said more than half the women who attend its workshops for females returning to work are aged 45 and above, and want to return to work as they realise they have limited funds for retirement.
“In some cases, it is compounded by the fact that their husbands have been displaced from jobs or hit with illness, making spousal transfers of Central Provident Fund (CPF) savings difficult,” she added.
